Boshkung Smokehouse was born in March 2020 out of Truss Foodworks — a culinary venture rooted in the belief that food should be bold, honest, and worth gathering around. What started as a passion project quickly grew into something the Haliburton Highlands had never quite seen before: a true Texas-style smokehouse, right in the heart of cottage country.
Founded by Mike Rae, Boshkung Smokehouse has become one of the most talked-about restaurants in Haliburton — not just for the food, but for the feeling. The kind of place where locals and cottagers pull up a seat side by side, cold beer in hand, and leave a little happier than when they arrived.

We do things the old way — and we're proud of it.
Every cut of meat that comes out of our kitchen has been seasoned with house-made rubs, loaded into the smoker, and left to do its thing for hours. We're talking 18+ hours on the brisket. Low and slow over real wood, until the bark is set, the fat has rendered, and the flavour goes all the way through.
